What is a trading halt?
An exchange stops trading in a stock for a while: briefly after a very fast move (a limit up / limit down volatility pause), or longer while news is pending or a regulator asks.
What do halt codes like LUDP and T1 mean?
LUDP is a 5-minute volatility pause after a fast move; T1 means news is pending; T2 is news being released; T12 means the exchange asked for more information. Each halt below shows its reason in plain English.
What happens when a halted stock resumes?
Trading reopens, often with a big jump or drop as orders that built up during the halt are matched. The app can alert you when a watchlist stock is halted and when it resumes.
